About Us
Founded by a licensed pharmacist enamored with providing quality patient care and a data engineer disenchanted by the current state of healthcare, PFRx is a platform striving to help streamline the process for physicians and patients struggling to navigate their PAs. All of our employees have a background in specialty pharmacy that led them to explore what options are available to help physicians and patients regardless of their insurance plan; when we didn't see any in our area, we decided to create a space ourselves!

Our founding pharmacist began working in a specialty pharmacy in 2015, initially as a patient care coordinator before realizing this is the realm she wanted to pursue a career in. After working in a variety of roles in that pharmacy, the last being a designated quality representative, she began rotations for her doctorate program and found out how interested she was in the submission of PAs. At a rotation at another specialty pharmacy, one of her primary responsibilities was to review patient data on behalf of physicians and formulate rationale as to why the therapy was appropriate before submitting the PA accordingly. When speaking to many of the offices, she heard a recurring theme of them not having the time, resources, or other factors that prevented them from efficiently initiating the PA process in a manner that also allowed the patient to begin their therapy in a timely fashion. From there, her curiosity was piqued - perhaps she could help physicians and patients while also doing something she enjoyed and excelled at!

The data engineer and architect behind the scenes also began working in the same specialty pharmacy in 2015. Working anywhere from software engineering to robotics, he found that in each pharmacy he worked at following, there were some consistent complaints on the technology used for the front-end of the pharmacy. His current role at a local healthcare start-up as a data architect gave him insight in to the portals for benefits investigation, and the corresponding lack of similar resources for PAs; or at least a lack of quality ones readily available to all. At the opportunity to create technology to help all parties, particularly patients, he leapt.
