What Does PFRx Do With the Information?
While PA forms do vary, the gist of them is the insurance looking for reasoning behind the specific therapy being requested. When a request is submitted to PFRx, the first thing our pharmacist does is review the PA request itself to see what the insurance is seeking. From there, the pharmacist will review the therapy requested and the patient charts to corroborate that it is an appropriate regimen; in the rare case it is not evidence-based medicine, the pharmacist will NOT submit the request and will contact the office to discuss. Provided it is a viable treatment, the pharmacist will complete the PA request form with all appropriate information and requested rationale detailed. Once it is completed and signed, it is submitted back to the provider's office via the portal where it may be downloaded for their reference and use accordingly.
